IN DISTRESS First Aid Training Services Incorporated is an Affiliate Member of the Lifesaving Society of Ontario. As an Affiliate, all of our certifications are recognized by the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).

We provide first aid courses in Ottawa, Halton, Toronto and surrounding areas. Our courses are offered on a ‘we come to you basis’, on site at your location. In Halton and the GTA, we offer our courses on a we come to you basis, as well as public courses at local venues. Please contact us for more information.

Our course fees differ based on the type of course and the number of participants. Please contact us to obtain a quote.

We have a No Refund Policy.  Course materials are ordered in advance of each course, based on the number of confirmed registrants. Therefore, once a registrant has confirmed their participation and has provided payment, IN DISTRESS First Aid Training Services Inc. will not issue a refund under any circumstances.

Any course changes (reschedules) on the behalf of the registrants are subject to the availability of another scheduled course, and are subject to a $15.00 administrative fee payable to IN DISTRESS First Aid Training Services Inc.

The Lifesaving Society will mail your permanent First Aid card directly to the address that was provided to the instructor on the exam date. The LSS allows 90 days to process the test sheets. If you do not receive your card within 90 days, please contact them directly at (416) 490-8844.

Contact the Lifesaving Society directly at (416) 490-8844 to confirm your name and mailing address. A replacement fee may apply.

Alternatively, you can print a list of your qualifications using the Find a Member function on the LSS website. Go to www.lifesavingsociety.com  and follow the link to Find a Member. Enter your Member identification number. If you don’t know your identification number, call the Lifesaving Society at (416) 490-8844. There is no fee for using Find a Member.

Generally, Lifesaving Society awards are valid for a period of 2 years (24 months) from the date of certification printed on your permanent card.  Standard First Aid is valid for 3 years from the original exam date.

CPR is recommended to be recertified annually.

Standard First Aid recertification policy

In order to remain current, participants must recertify within 3 years from the original exam date listed on your certification.

The Ontario Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) specifies that Standard First Aid (SFA) award holders may recertify just once on a SFA recertification course. To renew a SFA certification subsequently, WSIB requires you to repeat the full course. Thereafter, you may renew by alternating recertification’s and original courses.

If your SFA certification is older than three years, WSIB requires that you take the full course (not a recert) again.

Holders of Standard First Aid certificates must recertify only with the original certifying agency. Check your Lifesaving Society qualifications using Find a Member before you attend your Standard First Aid recertification to make sure you meet WSIB's requirement.
